It doesn’t matter if you are a pro athlete or a beginner, you can increase performance by just adding a little more pillow time. Sleep did a study back in June that showed a link between extended sleep and athletic performace. They used 11 men’s varsity basketball players and asked them to sleep fewer than 7 hours per night for 2-4 weeks during playing season. After the 2-4 weeks, they were asked to engage in 10 hours per night of sleep for 5-7 weeks. Using various measures of performance, researchers discovered improved performance in all measures during the longer sleep sessions.
So, go ahead, and use this as an excuse to stay in bed just a little bit longer… especially during the winter season!
